Royal Brussels was unable to turn around its fortunes. Registers another loss against Turnhout CC.

On a cold & wet day, RBCC 2 travelled up to Turnhout more in hope than expectation. We arrived at the miserable MCCB ground to find a trampoline pitch, cratered run-ups and no opposition. As the cold and damp seeped into our bones and the opposing team turned up in dribs and drabs, it was decided that we would try to get a game on in between the squalls.

MCCB batted first and started slowly against some pretty tight bowling. Gradually their power hitters got into the game however and ultimately we conceded 288 before bowling them out, one of their openers making 109. Fida bowled well, Noor took 4 wickets and Max got 3 but congratulations go to Abir, making his senior debut and taking his first league wicket.

A fun time had by all…

In return we really struggled against the steepling bounce; Rob managed a courageous 42 but the rest of our batsman found it difficult to time the ball. Four of our batters fell to mistimed pull shots as we subsided to 114 all out. Frankly, we couldn’t wait to get out of there!

Sometimes it just isn’t your day…but a quick stop at a well-known junk food emporium lifted spirits somewhat.
