Colts

Royal Brussels Cricket Club enjoys proximity to the major international schools. It benefits through the large interest from junior-aged cricketers wanting to play this wonderful sport as an extra-mural activity.

Apart from the Antwerp Indian Cricket Club, RBCC is the only other club in the Belgian league to host a number of junior teams from U11 through to U17, where they usually go on to play in our senior men’s and Women’s teams.

Our Colts division is run by a selection of committed senior members and passionate parents wanting to get involved with the club and assist with the Colts coaching and officiating during many of the fixtures provided to our junior teams.

The Belgian Cricket Federation has recently acknowledged the need to work more closely with RBCC to ensure the continuity of cricket through the grass-roots development of all young cricket patrons. In 2012, the BCF and National Team coach took a more proactive role in developing young cricketers and assisted by RBCC in setting up additional training camps, coaching and even introducing the first-ever U11 National Team.

2012 also saw the largest 3-way international junior competition being hosted in Belgium. RBCC were instrumental in setting this up and hosting it at our wonderful grounds near Waterloo. Over 75 juniors participated in this 10-over, round-robin format with teams from Kings Canterbury (UK) and Chateau de Thoiry (France) enjoying our Belgian hospitality.

Colts training occurs at the club every Saturday morning from 10:00-12:00 and games are played on Saturday afternoons. The interest for junior league games is definitely on the increase and with more and more fixtures being added each year, RBCC is always on the lookout for any boys or girls between the ages of 9 -17, no matter what their skill level is.

If you know any youngsters who are keen to be a part of a team and can benefit from the positive influences gained by playing sports and are passionate cricketers, then please feel free to contact us by email at [email protected], or by looking at our Contact Us page.

We look forward to meeting and introducing you to all the other Colt Members currently enjoying cricket in Belgium.
