Royal Brussels Cricket Club (RBCC) launched their BCF T20 Cup 2025 campaign in emphatic fashion, securing comprehensive back-to-back victories against Masroor Cricket Club in a thrilling double-header. The day marked a successful T20 captaincy debut for Sairab Zahid, who led the team admirably despite the challenge of losing the toss in both encounters.
Match 1 Scorecard: RBCC Won by 63 Runs
The first match saw Masroor CC win the toss and opt to field first. RBCC’s batsmen immediately signalled their intent, piling on a commanding total. Opener Muneeb Muhammad was in scintillating form, blasting 68 runs off just 44 deliveries, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. He shared a blistering 93-run opening stand with Nayhan Khalil, who contributed a quickfire 36 off 27 balls (3 fours, 1 six) before being dismissed in the 8th over. Mussayab Jamil continued the momentum with a powerful 49 off 37 balls (3 fours, 1 six). Late cameos pushed the score to a formidable 197/5 in the allotted 20 overs. For Masroor, Nishan Singh was the most successful bowler, picking up 2 wickets.
In reply, Masroor CC faced a disciplined and potent RBCC bowling attack. While Jahangeer I fought hard for his 42 off 37 balls and Tahir Wasir added 37 off 23, the required run rate proved too steep. Wickets fell at regular intervals, stifling any chance of a successful chase. Noor Khan was the pick of the bowlers for RBCC, returning exceptional figures of 3 wickets for just 5 runs in his 2 overs. Muneeb Muhammad capped a fine all-round performance with 2/11, while Fida Hussain (1/15 from 4 overs with 1 maiden) and Issa Iqbal (1/17) also bowled effectively. Masroor CC were restricted to 134/8, handing RBCC a convincing 63-run victory.
Match 2 Scorecard: RBCC Won by 6 Wickets
Mirroring the first game, Masroor CC won the toss again, this time electing to bat. However, the RBCC bowlers were clinical from the outset. Muneeb Muhammad delivered a masterclass in controlled bowling, conceding a mere 5 runs in his 4 overs while claiming 2 wickets and bowling 2 maidens. He received excellent support from Adam Herrington (2/19), Mussayab Jamil (2/20), and Nayhan Khalil (2/29). Fida Hussain (1/8) also struck early. Masroor CC struggled to build partnerships and were bundled out for just 93 in 16.4 overs. Only Hassan Ala (16) and Gurpreet Singh (15) managed double figures.
Chasing a modest target of 94, RBCC approached the task professionally. Although they lost a couple of early wickets, Mussayab Jamil anchored the chase superbly with an explosive unbeaten 35 off only 18 balls, featuring 2 fours and 2 sixes. Contributions from Mustafa M (18) and Ali Naqi (16) ensured there were no major hiccups. RBCC reached the target comfortably at 96/4 in just 12 overs, sealing a 6-wicket win and completing a perfect double for the day.
